Step back in time on this memorable New England vacation, exploring centuries of history on Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod and in Newport. Relive 17th-century life at Plimouth Plantation and visit the  largest whaling museum in America. Special experiences include a scenic flight from Martha's Vineyard to Nantucket... a whale-watching cruise off the shores of Provincetown... a sightseeing cruise of Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay... and a tour of The Breakers, one of Newport’s most extravagant Gilded Age mansions.

•   Scenic flight from Marthas Vineyard to Nantucket

Day 1: Arrive Boston
A transfer is included from Logan International Airport to The Lenox Hotel, ideally located in Boston’s historic Back Bay neighborhood. Join us tonight for a welcome reception and dinner.
Overnight: The Lenox Hotel, Boston, MA
Meals Included: Dinner

Day 2: Plimoth Plantation / Martha's Vineyard
Plymouth, where the pilgrims first established a settlement in 1620, is a fitting first stop on your journey through American history. Visit Plimoth Plantation, a restoration depicting the times, lifestyles, and crafts of 17th-century Plymouth, and see Plymouth Rock. Head south for free time in Falmouth, before boarding a ferry bound for Martha’s Vineyard. Your accommodations for the next two nights are in Edgartown, once an important whaling center and today a popular summer resort.
Overnight: Harbor View Hotel & Resort, Edgartown, MA
Meals Included: Breakfast, dinner

Day 3: Exploring the Vineyard
A haven for seasonal delights, much of this storied island remains exactly as it was when the first Europeans arrived in the early 17th century. Guided sightseeing today includes the towns of Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven, and West Tisbury; the island is endowed with salt sea marshes, sweeping beaches, idyllic yacht harbors, and narrow streets lined with stately homes that are pure pleasure to explore.
Overnight: Harbor View Hotel & Resort, Edgartown, MA
Meals Included: Breakfast

Day 4: Nantucket / Cape Cod
Take a 15-minute flight to neighboring Nantucket Island this morning, where over 300 years of art, architecture and legend reflect the long-past whaling era. Guided sightseeing includes lunch on your own, before returning to the Cape Cod mainland via ferry. Your destination tonight is the quaint seaside village of Chatham, where a traditional lobster and clambake welcomes you to a taste of daily life in true New England style.
Overnight: Chatham Wayside Inn, Chatham, MA
Meals Included: Breakfast, dinner

Day 5: Provincetown / Whale Watch
A drive along one of the Cape’s most scenic and remote stretches leads to Provincetown, rewarding with maritime legacies and creative flair; visit Cape Cod National Seashore to learn about the area’s flora and fauna and explore the village on your own for lunch. Whales have been in the picture since the 1800s when “P-town” was a very busy whaling harbor. Head out with cameras in hand on a whale-watching cruise this afternoon to view these huge, often playful, marine mammals in their natural habitat, weather permitting. Return to the resort for dinner.
Overnight: Chatham Wayside Inn, Chatham, MA
Meals Included: Breakfast, dinner

Day 6: New Bedford Lore / Newport
More historic whaling-era lore awaits on a visit to the New Bedford Whaling Museum en route to another celebrated summer destination. Newport, Rhode Island, is blanketed with lavish 19th-century estates; drive past them along the Ten-Mile Drive and arrive at your hotel right on Newport Harbor.
Overnight: The Newport Marriott, Newport, RI
Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch

Day 7: Centuries of History in Newport
If you wish, start the day with an early morning stroll along the Cliff Walk. A guided tour of The Breakers takes you inside Newport’s most palatial summer “cottage” and a leisurely cruise explores Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay. Join us for a farewell cocktail reception and dinner tonight.
Overnight: The Newport Marriott, Newport, RI
Meals Included: Breakfast, dinner

Day 8: Boston / Journey Home
After breakfast, drive back to Boston. Tour ends: 12:30 PM at Logan International Airport, Boston or 1:30 PM at The Lenox Hotel, traffic permitting. Airport transfers are included; allow two hours for check-in. Ask at booking about additional hotel nights.
